Real Help for Real Struggles – from people who’ve been there

If you’re reading this, chances are you—or someone you love—is battling something deep. Maybe it’s pornography. Maybe it’s alcohol, drugs, nicotine, gambling, or even something more hidden like approval addiction, food, or emotional dependency.

Whatever the chain looks like, we want you to know you’re not alone.

At Anchor Ministry Inc., we’ve walked with people through all kinds of bondage—some of us have lived it ourselves. Others have stood in the trenches with loved ones trying to find their way out. So this page isn’t about judgment. It’s about hope. It’s about freedom. It’s about Jesus.

We’ve seen what addiction can do: how it isolates, lies, shames, and steals. But more importantly—we’ve seen what God can do. He still sets captives free. We’ve witnessed lives restored, minds renewed, and families healed through the power of Christ.

Let’s be real for a second.
Addiction doesn’t always look like a needle or a bottle. Sometimes it’s a private browser, a compulsive habit, a toxic relationship, or an overwhelming need to be liked. It shows up in different forms, but it always leaves the same result: bondage.

Here’s what we believe and have seen firsthand:

Pornography destroys intimacy and rewires the brain, but God can restore purity and peace.

Alcohol may numb the pain, but it never heals it—Jesus does.

Drugs and pills promise escape, but only the Holy Spirit brings true rest.

Nicotine and legal addictions are still chains—and freedom is possible.

Gambling empties the soul while chasing a false high—but Christ offers lasting joy.

Approval, anger, control, or shame—these “respectable” chains can be just as destructive.

No matter the addiction, Jesus is the chain breaker.

Isaiah 61:1 says, “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and freedom to the prisoners.”

Here’s what we’ve learned, both in our own lives and walking alongside others:

1. Freedom starts with honesty. Get real with God. He already knows—and He’s waiting.

2. Healing begins in the light. What stays hidden, stays alive. But sin loses power when it’s exposed in grace.

3. Scripture changes everything. When we flood our minds with God’s Word, we start to see ourselves the way He does.

4. Accountability matters. You weren’t meant to do this alone. We weren’t either.

5. Freedom is possible. Whether it comes instantly or gradually, God is faithful. We’ve seen Him do the impossible.

We’ve cried. We’ve prayed. We’ve watched people relapse and rise again. And through it all, we’ve never seen God give up on a single soul.
